About the month of August
For those situated in European countries, August is a month filled with celebrations and festivities like La Tomatina in Spain. Because of this, many people flock to countries in the southern portion of the EU to enjoy the events. As the eighth month of the Julian calendar, August also includes important religious holidays like the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The birth flower of August is the gladiolus or poppy which represents beauty, strength, love, marriage and family, togetherness. August’s original name was Sextillis but it was later changed to August in honor of Augustus Caesar.
